Katie Smart

Katie Smart is the director at Places for People Scotland, one of Scotland’s leading housing associations. She oversees the development and management of more than 9,000 homes for almost 10,500 customers in communities across Scotland.

With a focus on doing what’s right for people and places, Katie is driven by her belief that a home can have a transformative effect on the life of an individual or family. Working with colleagues and partners across the housing sector and within local and national governments, Katie works to identify areas of housing need, addressing a shortage of supply through new house building projects, or quality and sustainability issues through improvements and repairs.

Katie has extensive experience and expertise in the housing sector, having worked in various roles at Places for People for more than 12 years. Prior to her appointment as director for Scotland, she was head of service quality, using data and working closely with staff across the organisation to improve service delivery and the experiences of customers.

Andrew Winstanley

Andrew is the Group Executive Director - Finance, at Places for People and was appointed to the board in August 2017. He also serves in the same capacity for Places for People Scotland. 

Bryan Sherriff

Bryan joined the board in January 2024. Based in Edinburgh, he is a Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years’ experience and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Bryan’s career has covered Property Investment and Development throughout the UK across Commercial and Residential sectors. Latterly Bryan was responsible for the establishment and management of a Real Estate Investment Trust which was listed on the premier market of the London Stock Exchange

Bryan is a keen sports supporter and currently coaches’ youth rugby.

Euan Campbell 

Euan joined the board in November 2022. He is the Group Finance Director at Murray Capital where he is responsible for all financial aspects of the Murray Capital Group, as well as a number of family assets.

He is also the Finance Director of the Murray Estates group of companies which is a property development and investment group, as well as holding a number of non-executive positions across different sectors. He was previously a non-executive at Basketball Scotland from 2015 to 2018. Euan trained and qualified with EY where he worked in the Transaction Advisory Services Team.

Heather Claridge 

Heather is the Director of Design for Architecture and Design Scotland, the national design agency, where she is responsible for the design advice teams. Heather is an urban planner and designer, with a background in geography. She has over 15 years’ experience of working in the public sector.

Previously at Glasgow City Council, Heather has shaped place policy and facilitated urban regeneration. She has supported local and creative partnerships within Glasgow’s Canal Corridor and helped grow the internationally recognised Stalled Space initiative, activating vacant and underused land. She played a leading role in delivering Glasgow’s greener legacy projects for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She has contributed to multiple complex green and blue infrastructure projects in the east end of the city. Heather has played a key role in Glasgow City Council’s involvement in the international Lighting Urban Community International Association and has supported creative lighting projects locally. In 2019,

Heather was seconded to Architecture & Design Scotland for 20 months to develop a new ‘carbon conscious places’ service, working with the Scottish Government and local authorities in rural, islands and urban settings. Heather is a non-executive Director of the Board for the Academy of Urbanism, Charity Trustee of the Green Action Trust, an affiliate of the UN Habitat’s Planners for Climate Action, former Royal Town Planning Institute UK Young Planner of the Year and titled in the top 50 women of Influence for 2019 and 2020 in ‘the Planner’.

Kenny Fraser 

Kenny joined the Board in April 2023. His executive career was with PwC where he held a number of senior leadership positions and served global clients in the Telecoms and Technology sectors. He left PwC in 2013 and has since worked mainly as a non-executive director and advisor to high growth Technology companies in Scotland. During this time, he was also a non-executive director of Social Investment Scotland for six years. He is currently a Lay Member of the Court of the University of Stirling where he is the Chair of the Audit Committee. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987.

Janet Hamblin

Janet joined the board in April 2018 and took up the position of Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee in May 2018. Janet has a wealth of experience in advising and auditing charities, social housing and education sector clients and heads up the dedicated not for profit team in Scotland. She has over 25 years' experience in her field.

Janet joined RSM in 1996 and specialises in audit and advisory services for charities, RSLs and OMBs. She also has experience in social impact, risk management, corporate governance and strategic planning. She carries out training for boards and audit committees and regularly chairs and speaks at social housing and charity conferences. She is a non-executive board member of Scottish Government recently becoming Chair of the Scottish Government Audit and Risk Committee. She is also a member of the Education Board of the Merchant Company of Edinburgh and a Member of the ICAS Public Sector Committee.

Janet trained and qualified with PWC where she worked in their SME Audit and Business Advisory Group for 14 years and also first started to specialise in the not for profit sector.

Pamela Scott

Pamela joined the board in May 2017 and in 2022 was appointed to the position of Chair, Places for People Scotland. Pamela spent the majority of her career as an Executive leader in global spirits company Diageo. Roles in Diageo included leading a Scotch bottling manufacturing site, the technical and supply innovation division for Guinness in Ireland, the Human Resources for Supply across Europe as well as delivering various global supply chain transformation programmes. Since taking early retirement in 2020 Pamela holds a number of non-executive director positions and has set up a successful management consultancy called Pax & Iris where she supports both global and local organisations with performance improvement and transformation programmes.  Pamela has also written a book called ‘Living your Best Life at Home, at Work and with Others’ to share some of her learnings on self-performance improvement.  All book profits are donated to local charities.

Moira Sibbald

Moira joined the board in February 2021 and is looking to bring her broad experience in different sectors to support the organisation’s aims.

She is a solicitor and was formerly the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary and a member of the Executive Board of CALA Group after working in private legal practice and as an Executive Board member of a building society.

Moira has held a number of non-executive positions within the arts sector, financial services and other housing associations in Scotland and has experience chairing divisions of those organisations as well as being the chair of an Audit Committee and a Remuneration and Governance Committee.

Her other current position is as a Governor and Trustee at the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy where she chairs the Public Protection Committee and has recently been appointed to the Remuneration and Governance Committee.
